This multi-agency group training is based on the core competencies as outlined in the DfE Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 and the London Child Protection Procedures. For colleagues who work in education you will need to book the dedicated DSL training provided by Croydon Education Partnership.

Who is this course for?
This course is designed for professionals who play a direct role in child protection and are responsible for making safeguarding decisions in complex cases. You should book this course if your role involves:
- Conducting statutory child protection work, including Section 47 enquiries.
- Attending and contributing to Child Protection Conferences and Core Groups.
- Using professional judgement to assess whether a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm.
- Managing high-risk and complex safeguarding cases, including taking emergency action when required.
- Communicating with children in line with best practice for interviewing vulnerable witnesses.
- Supervising child protection cases and providing guidance to others in safeguarding roles.
**Prerequisite Notice: Completion of Level 1 and Level 2 is required for this course. If you have completed these courses elsewhere, please provide evidence of completion within the last three years by emailing it to cscptraining@croydon.gov.uk. If not, please complete the relevant e-learning modules available in the e-learning menu.
Who should NOT book this course?
This course is not suitable for professionals whose roles do not involve direct child protection decision-making or statutory safeguarding responsibilities. If you do not meet the above criteria, consider the following alternative training options:
- Level 1 and/or Level 2 Safeguarding Training – For professionals who need general safeguarding awareness or work in roles that involve identifying and reporting concerns.
- CSCP Safeguarding Courses – If you work with children but do not manage child protection cases, please view other courses in the main menu to find a session or eLearning course that may be more relevant.
Booking the correct training ensures that professionals receive the appropriate level of safeguarding knowledge for their role. Please check eligibility before registering.
