Targeted at professionals within Group B, who predominantly work with children and young people. This eLearning course is a more detailed introduction to the key aspects of child safeguarding, including the types of abuse, responding to concerns, and maintaining professional boundaries. Participants will engage with interactive content, real-life scenarios, and knowledge checks to enhance their understanding and receive certification upon completion.

In your role, you frequently interact with children and should demonstrate the following professional competencies:

  1. Record and share safeguarding concerns in line with best practice and information-sharing protocols.
  2. Apply the Threshold Guidance to assess the needs of children and their families effectively.
  3. Collaborate with other professionals to identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding concerns, ensuring child-centred interventions with measurable outcomes.
  4. Recognise the impact of parental challenges (e.g., domestic abuse, mental health issues, substance misuse, learning difficulties) on parenting capacity and child well-being.
  5. Understand the significance of family history and functioning in assessing risk and protective factors.
  6. Engage with children and families to address barriers such as lack of cooperation or superficial compliance within the safeguarding process.
